She always gets into fights with her older sister Bo-Ra (Ryoo Hye-Young). Sun-Woo’s mother has raised Sun-Woo and his younger sister alone after Sun-Woo’s father passed away.
Dong-Ryong likes dancing and hanging out with his 4 friends.
I'm truly touched by their friendship.heartwarming relations amongst the families.quiet yet dedicated father -son relationship of and taek.was just lovely..first episode where the ommas screamed to have dinner brings nostalgia.. I got a little bit skeptical first because kdrama sequel never as good as the first series. I learned a lot about Korean families, customs and traditions, parent-child relationships, friendships, and lifestyle. Jung himself realized that fate and timing were not in his favor.
hahah.big thanks to all the casts, crew, writers and makers and everyone involved in this terrific dramas..salute.. India When it comes to last episode, it's totally made me sad. I just feeling that 'it's me who leave the neighbourhood. But this one is good even better than 1997 because the story is more complex and the character development is amazing. A rich kid, a single mother&father kid, the perfect family but parents never home kid. their bond make me wanted to live in 1988 instead of this era. prepare for the roller coaster emotion I never write a review because I'm always busy at work or anything but I must this is a good drama and if you are hesitating if watching it or not , don't be anymore and watch it , I cry laugh and love every character enjoy it! As i watched ep 1 i was about not to continue watching because i thought this is not going to be good... He was not as determined as Taek and he kept on hesitating until he later lost his chances. In contrast, Taek gave importance to Duksun, often calling her, asking for movie dates, hugging and kissing her too.
It's been two years and I haven't moved on from Jung Hwan. Looking at broken heart Taek will break peoples heart even more. I don’t think i would be able to move on for 20 years.
To whoever is looking at the comments for reviews... and if you are like me and watch osts while watching the drama, you can listen to them but don't watch or read comments.
In 1988, Duk-Sun (Hyeri), Jung-Hwan (Ryoo Joon-Yeol), Sun-Woo (Ko Gyung-Pyo) and Dong-Ryong (Lee Dong-Hwi) are high school students and Taek (Park Bo-Gum) is a go player.
These five people have been friends since they were little kids.
This drama will leave you a really deep footprint in your heart. I can't imagine if Jung Hwan's character is portrayed by other actor instead of Ryu Jun Yeol. I'm glad that Ryu Jun Yeol's career skyrocketed after reply 1988 has ended. (SPOILER ALERT) My heart breaks for Jung Hwan, but can u imagine if she ended up with him instead of Taek? Why sung woo and bo ra love story got more attention than taek and duk seon? I love this because since it's based on year 1988, they don't act as modern like now. Unlike other dramas, they are considered comedy but the "comedy" scenes are not funny enough to be even considered comedy due to the corniness (i dont know if thats even a word).I always waited taek and duk seon having time together during this drama. So it's a bit different and they way they talk is different but really funny. Although the ending might not be what you exoect it to be. After watching this I highly recommend watching Reply 1994. At first, I hate the setting bcz the 80's fashion are the worst :)) But the more I watched it the more I fell in love with this drama. He gives up going to a university due to his poor academic score. Since he dropped out of school, Duk-Sun, Jung-Hwan, Sun-Woo and Dong-Ryong are his only friends.
I swear, this is the best korean drama I've ever watched that I rewatched it five times.
They all grew up together and are neighbors to this day. They always hang around Taek's room and spend time together.
